Hidden in the white-washed mountains of Cádiz, Ubrique has been working leather for over five centuries. What began as a craft of necessity — born from the herds that once filled these valleys — became one of the most quietly accomplished savoir-faire in Europe. Generations of artisans refined their methods in near-isolation, producing work of such precision that, in time, the world's most storied luxury houses came knocking.
For decades, Ubrique remained the discreet hand behind names you would recognise. Bags labelled in Paris, Milan, and Florence were often born here, in workshops the size of family kitchens, under contracts of silence. The town worked, and the world wore the work.
Every MCORTÉS piece is born in the same place. Each bag passes through the hands of artisans whose technique is inherited, not taught — patterns drawn on paper, stitches sewn two needles at a time, edges burnished until they hold their own light. Slow, deliberate, and uncompromising in its detail.
We make our pieces here because there is nowhere better to make them.
